Ronald B. Villanueva, MD
Dr. Ronald Villanueva is Board Certified in Endocrinology and Metabolism. He finished his pre-med studies at University of the Philippines, graduating Cum Laude. He attended medical school at the University of Philippines, College of Medicine. He was accepted to Montefiore Medical Center in New York, where he finished his Internal Medicine Residency. He was awarded the Leo Davidoff Most Outstanding Teaching Resident upon graduating. Thereafter, he was accepted to the Mount Sinai Medical Center where he finished his Fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism. He received extensive training in all aspects of Diabetes and Endocrinology. During this time he was awarded several grants for his research in autoimmune thyroid disease. He also coauthored numerous publications in the field of Autoimmune Thyroid disease (Grave's disease and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis), Cushing's syndrome and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Post-fellowship, he became an attending endocrinologist at Mount Sinai Medical Center, and received academic appointments - initially as Instructor, then becoming promoted to assistant professor. After several years of academic medicine, he joined Dr. Oscar Ortiz' practice in 2004. Dr. Villanueva and his wife Celine have three young children. He enjoys playing basketball and running in his spare time. For leisure, he enjoys traveling, watching movies and spending time with his family.
